Budgets & Targets

Basic / Pro

You set a limit on every expense category and a target on every income category. From then on it counts by itself: you see how much of the limit you have used this month or this year — and it warns you before you go over.

  • A limit per expense category, a target per income category
  • Each limit with its own period: /month or /year
  • A progress bar next to every category, inside Tefteri
  • An alert at the percentage you choose — and again at 100%
Available on both Basic and Pro plans. In this first version the owner sets and sees the limits.

What you get

It is not another screen with more work — it appears as a tab inside the Categories you already have.

  • One limit per expense category and one target per income category, in a single list.
  • Its own period on every line: €500 /month on fuel, €6,000 /year on maintenance.
  • Progress bars in Tefteri, in the “Totals per Category” panel, with the amount and the percentage next to them.
  • Target / Variance / % in Yearly Statistics — for the whole year or for the date range you pick.
  • An alert when an expense category reaches your threshold, with nothing to check manually.
  • Colour that means something: green–amber–red on expenses; on income the target is judged against how far the period has progressed, so the 3rd of the month never looks like a failure.

Two minutes to set up

You do not have to remember numbers — it pulls them from your own data.

  1. Open Categories and go to the Budgets tab.
  2. Hit “Fill from” last year or last month to load your real figures as a starting point — or type the amounts yourself.
  3. Choose /month or /year and the alert percentage (80% by default).
  4. Save. The bars show up in Tefteri immediately — and an empty amount means “no limit”.

What you use it for

So you don't find out at month end what you could have known on the 10th.

  • You see mid-month whether supplies are burning faster than the month can take.
  • You put a yearly limit on costs that arrive irregularly (maintenance, insurance) and watch it accumulate from 1 January.
  • You set a revenue target for the year and know whether you are ahead or behind for this point in the year.
  • With branches: a different limit per location, if you need one.
  • You talk to your accountant with target figures instead of impressions.

Works well with

It runs on what you already record — no double entry.

  • Tefteri (Income–Expenses) — Where the real amounts are measured and where the bars appear.
  • Statistics — Target, variance and achievement percentage next to every category.
  • Compare — So you can set a realistic limit, based on what actually happened last year.
  • Notifications — the bell warns you before a limit is passed.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Budgets work on both the Basic and the Pro plan.

In this first version the owner sets and sees the limits. Staff see neither limits nor bars.

Yes, and you can mix them: every category has its own period. On a yearly limit, progress is measured cumulatively from 1 January.

Yes. You choose the percentage (e.g. 80%) and get an alert there — and again when it reaches 100%. In this first version the alerts cover expense categories.

Yes, optionally. If you enable it, each branch can carry its own limit; otherwise a single shared limit applies to all of them.

Clear the amount and the category is left with no limit. Nothing gets locked and no entry is blocked — budgets measure, they don't forbid.
